Kootenay Adjusting is a uniquely adjuster-owned company, which has been a cornerstone of the community since the early 1980’s. Run by Gary Kanda since 2001, this business has an office in Nelson, Trail, Abbotsford and Kimberley which lets the adjusters strategically cover both the East and West Kootenay area of the southeast interior of British Columbia. Kootenay Adjusting’s goal is to assist clients as they navigate the complex issues of insurance losses.

Kootenay Adjusting’s affiliate office in Abbotsford operates under the KC Adjusting banner with Lorraine Ferns. 

  • Lorraine Ferns is an energetic lady with the CIP designation and 12 years of experience.  Lorraine is an accomplished property adjuster serving an area from Fraser Valley to the coast.

The Team

  • Gary, owner and senior adjuster of Kootenay Adjusting, has been involved in the insurance business for 35+ years.  His experience is in all avenues of the insurance process from residential property, recreational vehicles, pleasure craft vessels, to commercial property and liability losses, which has provided Gary with a well-rounded resume.
  • Sarah Gabl, a welcome addition to the Kimberley office, brings a wealth of experience with her 25 years of insurance knowledge.  Her background with national adjusting companies and routine handling of large property losses positions Sarah to handle any type of loss.
  • Joanne Dietrich, the administrative assistant to Gary and Sarah, has been involved in the Insurance business for 30+ years.  The lengthy career in the field provides her with a vast knowledge of the claims processes.
